Harrods
Harrods is a luxury department store in Knightsbridge, London. Established in 1849, it is known for a considered setting and a wide range of luxury goods, from designer fashion and accessories to home and food. More than one million square feet of retail space place it among the largest department stores in Europe. The architecture, and the green-and-gold mark, make Harrods a landmark as well as a destination.
When Tiffany & Co. and Harrods meet, the occasion is rarely quiet. The two houses extended a façade activation: Harrods turned its lights from amber to Tiffany Blue to welcome a new Tiffany department inside the store, and to mark Tiffany’s 150th year in London. Michèle Victoria (MuseVision) was commissioned to document the activation in stills and moving image, with editorial restraint.
Content with restraint and intent
This singular activation coincided with the jewelry house’s 150-year anniversary in London, and with the opening of ’Vision & Virtuosity’ at the nearby Saatchi Gallery.
Brompton Road was partly closed through the night so 70-meter cranes could reach the upper floors. Michèle Victoria (MuseVision) placed stills, moving-image, drone, and time-lapse crews against more than 7,000 bulbs on the façade. We recorded the slow change from amber to Tiffany Blue, and the star-attended switch-on that followed.
